Company and Product History:
Delta F was founded in 1969 to
exploit fuel cell technology devel-
oped for the U.S. Space Program.
It commercialized a coulometric
oxygen sensor, employing a unique,
non-depleting carbon-electrode
technology that offered significant
advantages over traditional sensing
technologies. It developed its first
non-depleting O2 sensor in 1971
and introduced its first analyzer in
1973. The product line has since
evolved to its present configuration:
the DF 100 Series aimed at OEMs,
the DF 300 Series for the sophis-
ticated needs of the gas industry
and the DF 500 Series for UHP gas
applications, such as semiconduc-
tor manufacturing. In 2001, the
company introduced the DF700
Series line of ultra trace moisture
analyzers to compliment its Nano-
Trace oxygen line for the semi/LCD/
LED/solar industries.
Industry Segments Served: The
prime markets served include elec-
tronic and semiconductor device
manufacturing, thermal material
processing, OEM processes and pet-
rochemical processing. Customer
base ranges from Fortune 500
companies and the government to
independent welding contractors.
Technology: Oxygen analyzers use
a non-depleting enhanced electro-
chemical sensor called the E-sensor.
They cover a very broad measure-
ment range, from 25% down to
75 ppt. The moisture analyzer
uses TDLAS (tunable diode laser
absorption spectroscopy) technol-
ogy capable of measuring down to
200ppt for a variety of inert, reactive
and corrosive background gases.
General: All instruments are custom
configured and built to order. Delta
F’s manufacturing philosophy is to
retain high value-add processes in
house, such as final assembly and
calibration/test, and to out-source
all other operations to qualified sup-
pliers. They make extensive use of
information technology and auto-
mation to maintain quality and to
reduce costs. It’s notable that Delta
F was among the first ISO 9001 reg-
istered companies in the US (1992).
The company also places a premi-
um on pre- and post-sale customer
support, and has been recognized
with both customer and industry
accolades for having the highest
standards on service and testing of
its products. G&I
