cans in high speed lines of greater than 500 cans/minute. The core of Cascade’s CT2210 sensor is a quantum cascade laser operating in the mid infrared that provides an ultra stable optical source. By pulsing the laser at high frequencies (100KHz) the system is able to very rapidly average multiple pulses to produce a high signal to noise ratio for each measurement. The CT2210 is able to reliably and continuously draw sample gas from each aerosol can as it passes through a sampling archway placed on the production line. It measures sample gas using direct absorption spectroscopy. As the laser interacts with the sampling gas the propellant molecules absorb light at specific wavelengths thereby providing an unambiguous and characteristic fingerprint. LI-7700 Open Path Methane Analyzer Application: In-situ measurements of atmospheric methane density

The LI-7700 is an open path laser-
based instrument designed to make
in-situ measurements of atmospheric
methane density with the resolution
( 5 ppb at 10 Hz), speed, and stability
required to measure ecosystem meth-
ane flux using the eddy covariance
technique. This instrument uses a laser
beam, which propagates between 2
mirrors in an open cavity, to measure
trace amounts of methane in the atmo-
sphere. The LI-7700 weighs ( 5.2 kg), has
low power requirements ( 8 W nominal),
and provides high frequency response
(up to 40 Hz). The LI-7700 uses a single-
mode tunable near infrared laser source,
operating near ambient temperature,
and demodulates the resulting signal at
twice the modulation frequency, and then
compares it to a reference signal shape

The Ecosmart line of environmentally friendly precision gas products has been expanded with the launch of the ecosmart

44, a standard 34-liter cylinder containing 44 liters of precision calibration gas. The new 44 features 29 percent more gas than the traditional 34-liter unit, reducing the cost per liter while also extending the life cycle of a standard 34-liter cylinder. Ecosmart 44 holds both pure gases and gas mixtures and is approved for safe transport by the Department of Transportation. To produce ecosmart 44, Gasco uses an exclusively designed, reinforced 34-liter aluminum alloy cylinder and applies its proprietary manufacturing process to safely and effectively increase the gas pressure. This process enables the standard 34-liter cylinder to hold 10 additional liters of calibration gas. But unlike its standard 44-liter cylinder, Ecosmart is refillable, creating both financial and environmental benefits.
